I had my motor worked on and now my stereo won't work and my fob won't either, not sure what could have happened.

Battery in the key fob died? Hard to kill the radio working on the engine. What work did you have performed on the engine? And what year and model do you have? Miles?

I have a2008 cobalt lt coupei had the head gasket changed along with some sensors

I replaced the battery in fob. Also

They could have done a whoopsie and accidentally rehooked your battery cables up wrong when they put the car back together and fried the radio or blown out the fuse. And being a mechanic with many other cars they're working on, they May have neglected to say anything to you about it when they finished with your car. I'd suggest that you have the fuse to the radio checked. If that is not it, then you may need a new radio altogether..

I don't know what causes the stereo to lock but I've read that they do lock. I found these steps, but (disclaimer alert), I don't know if it'll work or not. Good Luck!

See this procedure and fix it.

• 1 Start the car and turn on the radio.
• 2 Press down on preset numbers two and three until a three-digit number displays on the radio. Write this number down.http://www.google.com/url?ct=abg&q=...p8NtcR&usg=AFQjCNGx4uMR3Mh9zUldo_O_mlBHMW7jIg
• 3 Push the AM/FM button and a new three-digit number will display. Write this number down to the right of the original number, to create a new six-digit number.
• 4 Call 1-800-537-5140. This is the radio code phone line.
• 5 Enter 106010, and then press #. This is the Chevy radio dealer code.
• 6 Type in the six-digit number you had at the end of Step 3, and then press *. The phone line will then give you a four-digit number. Write this down.
• 7 Use the Minute and Hour buttons on the radio to type in this code, and then press the AM/FM button to unlock the radio.
