now i have read on wiki that the ss/sc uses a m62 supercharger, now i used to own a mazda mx6 and i know a guy who put a clutched m62 supercharger on his mx6, so that he could turn it on or off depending on what he needed at the time, be it feul economy or power. so my question is as follows, is the cobalts supercharger chlutched (i really dont believe that it is) and if not has anybody experimented with trying to fit a clutch to one??

I'm 99% positive it's not and I'm pretty sure nobody has tried to do so. I don't think you'd really see any improved economy by not running it...it would then be added drag on the motor without being in use. I would think economy would go down.

I'm assuming that's why you want to know...whether it would be efficient to do what he had.

well with it turned off it would be just like your a/c compressor when turned off. thus reducing the drag on the motor, i thought that it wasnt clutched but i was just wondering because i am slowly piecing together my supercharger kit for my lt
