I am waiting for them to tint the windows and install the spoiler, I haggled them down a bit. Gonna be a good car since I needed a new pizza delivery car since I deliver 15-25 pizza orders a night at my very busy shop.

My main question is since I got the "Base" model what are some modifications I can install to ramp up the horse power / performance. I am not a mechanic by trade and I heard a cold-air intake was a good thing to add. I don't have alot of money to throw into the car just yet, but was just looking at a bit of investment.

Cold Air or Short Ram Intake
Cat-back Exhaust
RaHeader & Downpipe
Highflow Intake Manifold
Highflow Throttle Body
Tune

Thats about it for modifications that are relatively cheap (under $500)

as for actual power going Forced Induction is the only route...(Super or Turbocharged)

For someone who has no car experience when it comes to installing anything, how hard would it be to install those parts? If I can't do it myself what am I looking at for having it done for me?

And altogether, how much of an investment would all that be and how much power would it be adding?

Before I got on this forum, the only thing I knew how to do was change a tire...not kidding...

ASK QUESTIONS! I cannot stress that enough. . .chances are someone will know what to do, and we aren't going to haze you for not knowing how to do something...I've learned everything I know about cars since I got my Cobalt 1 year ago. I've done all the work to my car. . .with the help of people on this forum that is.

I've spend just over 3k total. thats including rims and changing my interior several times and stuff. Check my link in my Signature for reference

Most of the vendors on here have very good prices, especially if you contact them through the forum, they cut prices most of the time...

And the DIY section will become your best friend.

One thing when you get the tint done. Make sure it is sticking well to the dots across the back window at the top, or that they used a stip of vinyl to cover the dots. Otherwise the back will look like crap at the top.

Welcome to the forum.

Thanks guys. I am already picking out parts to start working on...this is gonna be fun and might be the reason I was looking for to learn to work on my own cars.

I just feel bad knowing my camaro had 200hp and 200lbs of torque and I am losing 25% of that with the Cobalt but I couldn't afford an SS. I fully intend to get my 25% damn it....

But the mpg increase is gonna essentially pay for the mods...

Welcome to the site, and I have and 07 LS sedan. Your dont have to dump a ton of money into a cold air intake for your car. You can always custom make one (even though most people on here are pro name brand) I made my own for about 80-90 dollars.

I'd love to deliver pizzas on the side, but that's tons of wear and tear.

welcome to the forum...most catbacks are easy to install cuz they come in sections and they clamp together...the hardest part is taking the stock one off, it needs to be cutted to get it out easy
