A 2010 Chevy cobalt Keep on getting a check engine light on a cold start I run the codes and nothing comes up what can it be recently I changed timing sets and the cam actuators. Ran fine with no problems for a while and just started throwing the light about a month after I did the timing sets and cam actuators.

I would offer that you get a better code scanner that can check more than just the ECU.
When the BCM sets the MIL lamp, it also stores all of the system parameters at the time it sets the lamp. This data MAY be invaluable to troubleshoot your cars problem.

by the way, is your cobalt an auto or standard and what trim level?

The transmission also can set codes that do not come up in the PCM, but may only show up in the TCM. I agree that the code reader is not always sufficient and you may need to borrow a scanner. A scanner with live data capabilities and ability to read stored codes. Some code readers will only read current codes and not stored or pending codes.
