There's no problem having a battery in the trunk. In fact, a lot of race cars prefer it for weight distribution

As a matter of fact, it's actually preffered nowadays to have the battery in thr trunk by both race cars and tuners........ first of all, better weight distribution; second, it allows for more space under the hood...... meaning you can ram more gizmos and gadgets under your hood, cause there isnt a battery sitting in an awkward place

factoy put it their for 2 main reasons. 1 its safer in the trunk, and wont get exposed to weather and temperature variations, water etc. 2. Weight distribution. Having 25 feet of power wont do a single thing negatively. The guage of the wire is large enough to handing the voltage and makes up for any resistance (because as all cables get longer resistance goes up)

in short: chevy did good

also, having the battery uder the hood makes your car easier to steal. thieves can pop your hood open from underneath, then cut the bttery wires, so the alarm wont sound, then brake into ur car. they'll have alot harder time braking into your trunk to cut the wires. th alarm will go off once the trunk is opened.

OP here & tnx all - I ask cause a guy I know that had a few inches of corrosion on his positive cable (Nissan Frontier) and ended up having to replace the entire cable (those Japanese are smart ...) cost $ 75.00 for just the (Nissan) part ! Wonder what a Cobalt cable costs, $ 1000.00 ?

sounds like the place he went to screwed your friend! A wire is copper. They have connectors at pep boys. cut, and crimp. 4 bucks maybe. Also if your worried about corrosion go get some dielectric grease at any car parts store, put it on there. shit they even make stuff for battery connectors...
