I got mine replaced 4 months ago and 2 weeks later I started hearing the rattling in the front end again. Is it dangerous driving around with it needing to be replaced? I keep hearing the rattling when I go over bumps on the road. It's irritating! And I have to pay $200 to get it replaced.





Anyone else have this sort of problem with the lower arm bushings or control arm.

Not dangerous but make sure it's your issue for sure and not something else. Lower control arm bushing should have a one year replacement warranty. If you put the solid MOOG they have a lifetime warranty and I would have a hard time to believe that they would already be bad after 4 months.

yeah I'll get a different place to look at it. The first Shop I went to said I had to re-place all 4 struts and shocks on my vehicle thats why it was making all that racket, and quoted me $1300. I went to another place to get a second opinion and they said there was nothing wrong with my struts and shocks that they were perfect and that it was the lower arm bushings and control arm or something like that. which cost me $200. After that it was good until 2-3 months later I started hearing that little rattle in the front end again. The dude told me it happens if I go over a certain bump sometimes and knocks the bushing out of wack or something.

No, those bushings are pressed in and should still be good after such a short period. My guess is that maybe one of your endlinks has gone bad if you never replaced them before. There again, you would want to buy MOOG with the grease nipples and you'll never replace them again. Or saddle bushings are wore out, they can make a hell of a racket too. Only about $30 a set. This is all stuff that wears out on all cars don't matter what kind so maintenance is due.

Ok thank you. Is it dangerous driving around if the endlinks are bad? i just have to do alot of driving in the next 2 weeks before my next pay day to get things straightened out

I have had the same problem with my 06 balt. I had the dealership replace the bushings at least 3 or 4 times. It would be good for about a week or 2 and then start rattling again. Once the car was out of warranty I replaced them with the MOOG solid bushings that others have mentioned and they are much better than stock. You can see and feel the difference immediately when replacing them. I have had them installed for about a year or so now with no problems.

Was this work done with a GM dealership? If so, we definitely have 12 month/12,000 miles replacement parts warranty on components bought/installed through us.

Problem usually is that they last 12 months and a day or 12001 miles. Kidding aside GM warranties aren't the best, they always seem to have an excuse to worm out of their obligation. They once told my wife she drove hard after the 4th break job before 60,000Kms, that's just over 42,000 miles. They installed 2 new rotors but left the old pads. Guess what?

probably the endlinks like coby said. I've never seen a control bushing fail that quickly unless maybe you put on like 20,000 miles?

Yes, anything that requires you to disconnect something from the strut.

But not enlinks. You don't have to unbolt strut to remove endlinks.

Endlinks are bolted to strut, hence my phrasing "disconnect something from the strut"

But you don't need an alignment after changing the endlinks or swaybar bushings. Everything else pretty much.

Well, when I bought my car the endlinks were making that imfamous squeeking noise. I had the place I bought the car from replace the inner endlinks and about a month later my tires were completly destroyed because the car was so out of alignment. Could have been like that already but I was told I should have had an alignment after that.

What do you call inner endlinks? Or are you mistaking inner and outer tie rods because these you definitely need and alignment.
