So i was wondering would it be a smarter buy to buy a Red top Optima batter from Walmart? Would it fair better in winter vs a conventional lead acid battery?

I don't know what you drive,, but any warranty left? Either on the car or the battery in there now? I don't think the Optima has provisions for the required outside vent tube as our (Cobalt, G5) batteries are essentially in the (sealed) trunk area.

I believe the optima's are sealed, no venting. But yeah, anything is better than the crap they put in them from the assembly line...

As for the battery being dead in -28* C, well, its friggin below freezing, of course its gonna be dead... its lead acid
