first a little bacground , i have been wrenching over 40 years. Got the basics well in hand. On to issue....... timing tensioner / guide failed. Replaced and borescoped. All looks good. Last thing before tire and wheel well liner , attempt to start. Nothing !! No crank , no clunk ... nothing. Try again , still no crank , but a distinct Snap sound . Imagine a large capacitor discharging. Repeats every attempt at starting.. I have never heard anything like it in automotive. Any clues ???? Snapping is rythmic , when key is in crank position.
