So I'm trying to wire up an aftermarket radio in my girlfriend's car. She has a 2008 Chevy Cobalt LT. The code that I found under the mat in the trunk says "UQ3." The radio that Im installing is the same radio that I installed into my own car, without any issues.

My problem is that her stock wiring harness has lots of... confusing wires on it. I've tried to find a good diagram of what each wire does, but the following is the best I can find:

So for example, on the 2nd link there, under the number 6 pin, there are two options for the wire color: brown and brown/white. Her car has the brown/white wire in that spot, meaning it is the low level audio signal wire. I have no idea what a low level audio signal wire is.

So I guess I am asking what exactly that is. And is there a way to easily tell which wires will go to which speakers? Maybe if I use a multimeter? I'm almost ready to just run wires through the car, straight from the speakers to the radio.

I bought a wiring harness but it seems that the only wires that were right were the power/ground wires. I even had to run a wire from the ignition, for the accessory power, because the unit wasn't turning on at first.
Thanks!

I'm assuming here that your gf's 2008 has the up level system with tweeters and sub in the trunk. Low level audio is the signal the radio sends to the amplifier that's mounted above the steering column. This means front speakers are powered by radio and rear and sub are powered by amplifier. Here is the proper pin-out for her 2008.
