WTF?!?

I just borrowed a friends Launch x431 system and was running data on my 2006 SS/SC and low and behold the VIN in the car and the VIN on the Windshield do NOT match.

I ran a CarFax on the Car's VIN and my car is actually a 2007.... What the hell. For all my Tech and Dealer guy/gals Apart from the door jam, hood stickers Where else can I find the car VIN?
It's also not on the valve cover and the Strut Mount has a VIN that is not even Recognized in CarFax.

Even more importantly, how do I go about fixing this mess and making it whole? Who can I contact to try and recoup my repair costs if possible?

GM always goes by the VIN in the windshield and that should match your registration.

Thanks. It does match the Reg. I am just so confuised if I should be ordering parts for a 2006 or 2007. Any idea on how to tell?
This is a good reason for why I had a 2007 Stereo.
