There is a large O-ring that goes around the oil filter cover at the top. It does not come with the oil filter unless you buy the cover/filter/o-ring as a set. I have three 2.2 EcoTecs so I like to load up on filters when I find a deal. But I need to get the O-ring separately. You can reuse that O-ring a couple of times but after that you are risking a messy oil leak. The O-ring was available pretty cheaply up until now. I see that it is getting hard to find and expensive. I found a deal at of all places Home Depot, better than RockAuto. It is only $3.03 with free shipping so I grabbed 10 at a time. Not sure how long this deal will last.

My filters always include the replacement O-ring, although I normally buy aftermarket filters. Does AC Delco really not include them?

Nope. Only if you buy the filter/cover/gasket as a set. In fact I've seen filters that don't even have the little O-ring at the bottom. So I had to make another unrelated order because for some reason Home Dupa suddenly has an incredible wide range of stuff, and I went ahead and I ordered another 10 O-rings. FREE shipping! I have three 2.2 ECOTEC engines and I am sure I will need these eventually.
