I cant for the life of me figure out where this leak is coming from. Ive checked the oil filter cap for leaks, and it is dry all around the edge, ive replaced the oil pressure sending unti, and the crank position sensor and yet i still keep develping this wet spot right above the main ground on the trans right inbetween the trans and engine block. I cant seem to trace it any further up. It drips down and to the lower starter bolt and two trans bolts i can see it dripping off of until it reaches the center of the motor. Theres no leaks on the back side either. I cant imagine this being the rear main seal because of how high up it is given the shape of the block, and the flywheel and such looks dry as could be.

Might be coming from the X power steering pump hole cap seal.

Where it used to be on older cars, there's a cap instead with a gasket. Same engine block as 2004 Cavalier and it had a power steering pump shaft driven from the intake cam.

anyway you can get a better picture of that? Is that only on ecotec gen 1 blocks? because this is a 2.4 LE5 which is a gen2 block.

looks like i may have located it, that seem between the oil filter housing and what i thought was the transmission, is actually an oil cooler lol...unusual place for an oil cooler but ok GM, whatever you say.

so GM wants 50 bucks for just the gaskets..... LOL how bout no...

filled the recessed portion of the gasket slot with RTV since these are these oversized gaskets with the ridged to keep them in place, set the gasket in place and pressed it down until i got decent height from the gasket and let the RTV dry overnight. Gonna re-install it tomorrow and pray its not the cooler itself leaking. Then its 140 bucks off amazon from acdelco and it comes with new gaskets at least, but its such a pain in the balls to remove id rather just bypass the thing entirely....but NOBODY MAKES RELOCATION PLATES!!

Yeah gaskets suck. I had to replace the Lower intake manifold gasket on my blazer myself, and it took me forever cause I had to tear half the motor apart . Hopefully it's an easy fix for you

Seems to be good now, let it run for a half hour, what a pain in the ass to get that thing back in though. I had to come up with a contraption made out of 1/4 extensions and swivels with electrical tape to get the lower bolt on.
