Ok so i bought a header (Pacesetter) for my balt (2.2L) my problem is my stock downpipe is located to high for my header to just straight bolt on and flange, i'm not exactly sure what to do, i mean i might have to by a new downpipe. But im not to sure what i should do. I am planning on getting a new exhuast system anyways, so should i just wait till i get my exhuast and install it all together? Any suggestions?

Welcome to the site!

Have an exhaust shop custom make you a new downpipe. That will be the easiest route.. I would still use flanges rather than just welding though

Although I think there may be an aftermarket downpipe for the pacesetter now.

Sry bout that, thanks for the info. I was most likely going to hit up a garage and have them do it fo me. But i had read on exhuastdepot.net that a muffler shop would only make me a press bent piece which would defeat the purpose of a header. Any thoughts.

Press bends are fine.. Just as long as they are not crush bends your golden. But mandrel bends are best.. However most exhaust shops don't have a mandrel bending system

Check out an exhaust shop. Have them make the DP to bolt up to your existing exhaust. That way, when you want to get a upgrade, the new exhaust should bolt right up to your DP.

Thanks guys, I really enjoy my cobalt and want it to sound better as well as run smoother and a little meaner. Any suggestions on Exhuast Systems for the 2.2L balt?

I have looked on youtube and was considering going with Magna Flow, their system sounds great. The only prob is, it costs way too much (IMO). I like the sound that DC sports system sounds like, and it isn't that pricey.

Magnaflow system I put together for under 200. but I did more or less all the work myself.
Hey thanks for the clip, that system sounds really good. I want the magna flow system, but it is really expensive. If it turns out that i find something cheaper but just as good, I might go with that. I know pacesetter makes and exhuast for the balt, DC sports makes one and ARK racing does. They all range in price, I'm definatly going to be doing some more digging to find an inexpensive system that still increases performance as well as sounds good. I don't have huge plans for my balt but the little i can do to it to make it a little meaner and sound better i want to do.
