I want to paint my lower grills black.
and also the COBALT letters on the interior black and rebadge them on the trim.

How do I go about prepping before painting grills and letters?

Can you remove the grilles?

The letters I would sand down with 800 grit till the chrome comes off. Then paint like your trim.

Ok, Ill do that with the letters.
I would imagine that you could remove the grills.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

If you can remove the grilles then just sand it down. Spray paint the shit outta it with tmatte black or glossy. Whatever you prefer. If you want a good matte finish then I would buy an eggshell clearcoat from expresspaint.com

Thanks bro. It's actually black electrical tape. Wanted to see how it looks. And looks are killer!! I'm gonna paint it and add a little somthin to it. Gonna give it a stockish look

I woudln't strip the chrome, it is actually better because it provides a good clean finish. I would just either dust coat the letters or even primer first then do wet sanding. If you take the chrome off you might leave yourself an uneven finish.

I masked off everything but the ring. Its gotta be perfectly masked though.
