2006 Cobalt LT - Passkey III+
Had to replace engine in son's 2006 Cobalt. Triple checked electrical wiring, tried key reset procedure, tried holding battery cables together to reset ... at a loss.

The doors lock / unlock, lights on, radio works, etc electrically. When turn key the antitheft symbol is on dash and engine will not start.

Need help on how to bypass the Passkey III+ system. Everything find is for the Passlock system which is different.

Not a relearn issue

Has done the relearn process multiple times with multiple keys as stated

Thinking we are going to try and electrically bypass the anti theft deterent

Changing the engine alone should not affect electrical. If you didn't change any module the TDM should not have caused this. If you didn't change PCM or BCM your Cobalt should still work. Unless you somehow shorted the GMLan circuit, then check for burnt fuses. Can you read any codes?

you could try reading what the resistance on your key is and get a resistor and splice it into the wires that go to the back of the ignition cylinder, but to bypass it like that the ignition cylinder has to come out and im pretty sure you have to remove the steering wheel, airbag (which is clocked to the steering shaft sensors), blinkers and the horn. it wont be fun, or easy. id follow coby and just check the electrical for burnt fuses, maybe you accidentally shorted to ground or something, you never know with wiring.
