I live in Minnesota and was wondering if anyone knows where I can take my car to have the key fob programmed to my car. I'd prefer not to take it to the dealer. Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Call your local locksmith, they can usually do it for a lot less. I just charge $20 but that's just me.

Ebay FOB

Hey Coby. I recently purchased a FOB off ebay and took it to the dealer to program. They said they couldn't recognize the FOB as the frequency is not matching the car. They did say that some bought off ebay didn't work. I took it apart and everything looked good. Battery clip looked solid and battery tested good. I tested the contacts as well and got 3 volts there. Is there something else with these FOBs that need to be fixed?

Great question? Now I have a few. What year make and model is your car? Which FOB did you get? Does the purchased remote have a new button pad? Are your eyes blue, lol?

I got an AC Delco fob off Amazon and the GM dealer I went to was able to program it and the crappy aftermarket one I got for around $32. The aftermarket one I have came with a programmer box that plugs into the OBD II port. Avoid this. You will lose your ability to sync your TPMS sensors. Thankfully, with the AC Delco fob, I can sync my TPMS sensors again. Still can't sync with the aftermarket fob, but it still locks and unlocks everything. Certainly stick with OEM, like AC Delco. The AC Delco on Amazon is around half the cost the dealer wants too.

I have a 2007 Cobalt LS. The FOB I got is 15252034, which is the same number as the dealer would get for my Cobalt. New button pad? Ad says 100% brand new. Not blue.

Well that's the right number for your Cobalt, unless there's a problem with your RCDLR it should work. Sometimes dealers aren't very helpful when you don't buy from them. Come see me I'll figure it out.
