My wife has a 2008 Cobalt LS, and, among its many problems, the rear passenger side lights do not work; this includes the passenger side of the third brake light (the light on the trunk lid). The driver's side part of the third brake works normally, but not the passenger half. The turn signal, brake light, and flasher light all do not work on the rear passenger side.

The dealership wants about $200 just to diagnose the issue, so I can only imagine what they would charge to fix it.

Does anybody have any idea on what could be the problem? Thanks.

The high brake light has 3 bulbs in parallel so if one is not ''on'' it's probably burnt. Did you check the bulbs in the tail light?

Tail light only has 2 screws, a wingnut and a 10mm nut holding the housing. High brake light has 2 nuts and 2 clips. 194LL is the bulb number.

Also, for the third brake light, I had one of my bulbs go out, then when I was looking at the actual bulb, it looked fine, so I reseated it and had someone press the brake. Turns out it just needed to be reseated and worked perfectly. Try that for the 3rd brake light first. If that doesn't work, it's probably just burnt out.
