My girlfriends got a 2007 Cobalt and we're having a seat belt issue.

Went to buckle in a child safety seat in the back and mistakenly grabbed the belt for the front seat instead of the one for the rear seat. Since I wasn't sitting in the seat I didn't think about how odd it was until well down the road. It was a bit hard to buckle but did eventually latch, but now it won't unlatch. Tried pounding a couple butter knives in on either side of the male end and couldn't get it unlatched.

If I could at least get it unlatched I could replace the presumably destroyed female end probably myself.

Any suggestions?
