Ford is stepping up there game. 365 HP Taurus. Who knew they would do something like that. The SHO Models engine is Twin Turbo. Here is the specs of the SHO Model

The 3.5L EcoBoost™ is the first North American production twin-turbocharged direct-injection V6 engine. And Taurus SHO is the first and only vehicle in its class* to feature the EcoBoost engine. This engine provides better fuel economy** and fewer emissions than a V8. EcoBoost combines two different technologies – turbocharging and direct injection – to deliver the performance of a much larger engine with the fuel economy of a smaller engine.** It churns out 365 horsepower and 350 lb.-ft. of torque across a wide 1,500 – 5,000 rpm range. And it does all that with an estimated 17 city/25 highway fuel economy.** Compared to a naturally aspirated engine, the 3.5L EcoBoost twin turbocharged direct injection V6 engine provides higher performance, better fuel economy** and fewer CO2 emissions: • Improved transient response enabled by the direct injector reduces “turbo lag,” overcoming the traditional disadvantage of downsizing and boosting • More efficient fuel consumption is the result of a high compression ratio enabled by direct injection, which provides air charged cooling *Class is five-passenger Large Car. **EPA-estimated 17 city/25 hwy (AWD).

hahah. Id have to drive one to respect it. I just wanna laugh when i think of a taurus turbo charged. Thats like turbo charging a Ford Focus or Geo Metro lol
well, the way Car & Driver talks, the SHO is a big deal to alot of ppl... i guess from the SHOs in the past... there's a black SHO around here & i laugh every time i see it, i guess back-in-the-day it was alright, but... yeah, hideous... reminds me of my parents Taurus (91) from a kazillion years ago, they bought it brand new, we still have it, but its kinda just sittin up in the woods behind the house, hahaha... it died forever ago...

oh really? hmm... There's a few old SHOs runnin around here, nothing that's been taken care of tho... a few years back i was wondering why there wasnt any newer SHOs... but, given the previous Tarurs body style... no wonder... it was HIDEIOUS and had no hope of being even a glimmer of "sexy" at least this new one is good to look at & possibly fun 2 drive....

no, i would NOT pay 40K for a Ford either, lol... MAYYYBE an Evo MR or something, but that's IT, hahaha... well... if i had 40K :notrust:

Car is a huge deal, if you have not looked at what ford is doing lately you are out of the game imo. 40K yea, but it runs and competes with cars than cost way more and all for what? A lexus badge or BMW badge? They may not be the soul competition but they car run with them. The SHO of the past, at the time were something to talk about, I would take a early 90's SHO for sure. I like the look, they are not as fast today as back than but what car is. I beat the hell out of a 93 corvette not long ago haha. The '96 or so SHOs were small v8s, not bad but they just did not look good, no taurus did really. This one is a gorgeous ride to me, big, but nice.

If I had that money as many older folks do its definitely a car I would look at. Wanna talk small turbos, look at the balt TC, size doesn't matter. Just gives you room to upgrade imo and this car has TWO. These cars are beasts stock for the size and type of car they are, 4 door family hauler. I just cannot wait to see what an enthusiast(sp) does to one.

As someone on a local car forum said...it should have been put into the Fusion and they should have called it the Fusion SVT...the price would be much more reasonable....the performance would be so much better, the gas mileage would actually be good...this Taurus is way over priced and won't get very good mileage I'll bet...I'm sure most people will abuse the vehicle and mileage will go down, down, down....

If they took at least $5k-7k off, it would be pretty reasonable for what it is...it will never compete with any of the AWD performance cars on the road right now.
