Ok so i would like to upgrade my shift knob and boot. I dont want anything fancy for a shift knob, preferably something with 1-5 and R on it just bc its my first stick, but something nicer than the stock 06 LS knob. And i want a new shift boot bc mine is pretty beat up, since i bought the car used.

My main questions are, where can i get a shift knob that will just fit on like the stock one, bc the stock one just slides on and "locks" when the shift boot gets put on. The Shift boot slides on and turn to lock. I would like to get a knob that i can put on without altering anything, something easy to install, just swap them.

My other question is where do i find a shift boot like the stock one only nicer, preferbly black with blue stitching or black and a dark blue to match my laser blue. I had bought a black suede shift boot with blue stitching off ebay that said it was for the cobalt, but the top does not fit over the stock shifter and lock onto it, so im sending it back..... thanks

yeah the redline boot would prolly fit, but id rather not spend 50 bucks or so on a shift boot if i dont have to..... i dont need some rare persian leather or anything like that. I just want a new boot and knob that fit like the stock, so i can swap them without modding my shifter. bc ive seen other people have threaded their shifter to put an aftermarket knob on and i dont want to do that, i also cant do that

u asking me or mike? bc the manual, you grab the boot at the bottom of the knob and squeeze tight, turn to the left and it unlocks, you can slide the boot down and just pull the knob off. Idk about autos

Hey guys....i wanna purchase a shift boot from Redline Goods but im not sure about the size of the boot. I have an 2006 Cobalt SS (non supercharged) with a small MOMO shift knob http://www.vertexauto.com/UserData/Images/Large/208483.jpg (like the one in the picture). But I want the shift boot to come to the top of the shift knob without any space inbetween the knob and boot. I dont want any shifter metal showing. So im not sure if regular boot height is long enough or if i have to add an inch or more.

Any help would be great. Thanks

Ok so lemme make sure i understand, you want the shift boot to be tall enough that it reaches the shift knob, and the shifter post thats supposed to be hidden stays hidden?

I see a lot of aftermarket shifter knobs, but I am holding out for one that is made specifically for the Balt and will "link" up with the stock boot.

That's my question. How will the boot be put onto the shifter the replace the old one? Bc I know the stock one is like attached to the plastic holster.

yeah it seems that it's hard to find a nice shift knob that will just swap out for the factory one without modifications.
