Has anyone painted their OEM automatic shift knob. Mine is black leather with a silver strip in the middle.

I'm painting my trim black so I need this piece to be black as well.

What I want to know if anyone else has done it and if the paint would fade off or peal because of it always being used.

I have has no luck in finding another shift knob that is all black so paint my stock one is my only option.

If it is metal maybe you could take to a shop to get black anodized.

I don't think it's metal. Plastic from what I can tell by feeling it.

If anyone has a black auto OEM shift knob to sell, I'll buy.

I figured that plastic strip on the knob came off. I tried but it felt like it was glued on there and didn't want to break it. Now that I know it does come off, I'll have to give it a go.
