Hi Everyone,

I have a 2008 Cobalt Sport with the 5-speed manual. Within the past 6-9 months, I have noticed the shifter action getting progressively more...sluggish. It almost feels as if it is a little gooey, like I'm trying to shift through a bowl of dough or something. When I return to the neutral gate, if I move the shifter to the left or right (as if I was about to engage 1st or rev. for example) the shifter will stay cocked in that direction, rather than returning to centered. Shift effort seems slightly higher than in previous years. The engagements in the gears are still positive and otherwise the transmission performance seems normal. Any ideas as to the problem?

Thanks!

JAGXJRPORTFOLIO,

Welcome to the forum! As a Customer Service Representative, I don't have much technical insight apart from what I may be able to glean from an owner's manual or a few other limited resources. I hope you get some great tips from this community - they're pretty stellar!

However, should you ever have questions about recalls, warranty, or working with a dealership, I'm happy to help to the best of my abilities there!

See you around the forum,
Sarah
