Why are the 2006 Chevy cobalt 2.2 spark plug boots different from the 2007 2.2 Chevy cobalt? Can I use the 2007 in my 2006? The designs are different... Not sure if they are compatible. I appreciate all help. Thanks guys!

They are different because the 05-06 uses a wasted spark ignition pack vs 07-up uses coil over spark plugs syste,
The wasted spark ignition module has 2 coils inside and each coil connects to 2 cylinders. Each of the 2 coils will fire it’s 2 spark plugs twice during the each of the 2 cylinder’s 4 cycles. The other coil will fire the other 2 cylinders during those 2 cylinders cycles.
one firing during the top of the compression stroke and then during the top of the exhaust stroke.
on coil over spark plug ignition system, each spark plug has its own ignition coil ant that coil is directly controlled by the ECM.
so No you can’t swap them out……there are other reasons too.
