Should be easy. Had to change the hood on my civic when I owned it. Should just be a couple bolts and done. Just make sure you line everything up!!! Sry nvr done it on the cobalt but should be similar.

its probably going to come in primer. they recommend you sand or scuff it up before painting so the paint will stick. wet sand it with some 600 and when its painted it will look good. putting it on can be fun by your self. i like to put the bolts in loose and close the hood. check for symmetrical gaps to your fenders, then pop it open. (this is where the friend helps)lift the hood up without moving it. and tighten the easiest bolts to get to. then recheck gaps and make sure it closes right. if its good tighten everything up and your done

if its not primed then you would need to scuff up the bare metal to get the primer to adhear. if its steel or composite then you scuff and prime, i would recommend a high build primer and block it.
