Hey guys,

Been a while since I"ve posted...I have been real busy with my 2 jobs, and since the weather is so cold and dirty here, no work has been done on the car this winter. Summer is quickly approaching and I need to get my car stuff in order.

First off, I need to replace my front bumper. Going with an SS bumper and lip. Dealer cost is just over $500 for both (plus taxes most likely). If ANYONE could find me a front lip and bumper for cheaper SHIPPED to Canada, I would GREATLY appreciate it! Been looking everywhere, and nothing.

Since I'm doing the front lip, might as well look for a rear lip too. Is there any way the SS lip can be modified to fit on an LS bumper? If not, I was thinking RKsport rear lip but the SHIPPING to Canada SUCKS. Solutions?

Also most likely going to buy the LED smoke tail lights and mod the inners with red LED's as well.

as for RIMS, I've had mine for about 4 years. They are a bit scratched here and there with minor curb rash and one has a small dent. They need new tires. They are 17's. Should I keep them and buy new tires (around $400-500) or try and sell the rims, and buy new 18's WITH tires (around $1600 shipped and balanced)???

NEED your help on this guys! trying to get the most of this done ON BUDGET

A CAI would be nice too....
Also want to upgrade my 2 subs to FI SSD 12's but I don't wanna do everything because I need to put some money away in savings.

^'forget the airbox mod. If I do something I wanna do it right. I'll go CAI if anything Anyways I know that the rear SS lip won't fit directly on the stock ls or lt bumper, but what I asked is CAN it be modified to fit, without too much effort.

Bump for more answers/opinions

so doing the airbox mod is wrong? wow i guess a bunch of cobalt owners are doing things the "wrong" way
:notrust:
nah not wrong, just a CAI/sri looks nicer under the hood ;)
plus a touch more of an accomplished feeling.

Heck I want to take out the airbox just to free the dead weight, but overall the airbox mod seems like just a temporary solution to gain some hp/sound. if you can afford it, and intend on doing more power mods down the road you really should start with a good intake.

IIRC, the lip just attaches to the bumper...as that's all it is on the SS. They have the same bumper, just a lip kit attached. Will you also need to buy clips or the like? that I'm not sure of, but I'd imagine you wouldn't need to mod anything.

oh, and if money's not an issue, sell the rims. If it were me and I were still at least mostly happy with them, I'd just hang onto them for another season or so. The rim's would sell easier with tires on them anyhow so don't rush them out the door too fast.

Haha on hold until spring since I have no indoor space to work on the balt. Also trying to plan my finances...prioritizing the most important things first. I'll get 'er done this summer though. Pretty sure I will be facing new subs into the cabin, sealed from the trunk, in a custom fitted box. Amps will be displayed cleanly in the trunk :D

Oh and stick is exactly right in terms of his response to the airbox mod.

Problem is, after checking intotue flapper rear lip (which I rly like), it's $155 plus shipping to Canada and duties which is over $100 on it's own, so just the rear oil would be over $250 plus paint. Think my best bet and lowest cost option would be to buy the front bumper and lip and rear lip at the dealer :( (provided that the rear lip can somehow be fitted onto my bumper) I'll worry about side skirts later. Hopefully I'll find some on eBay for cheap.

I think the plan for now is to start by buying the front bumper/lip and rear lip. Then soon after, while those are being painted, I would really like to order a set of 18" sparco assetto gara rims in flat black with some good tires. I'll stop there until the summer, then mid-summer I should be finishing off the car audio build as well as a possible CAI. Oh and I think in the next few weeks I'll order those smoked LED tail lights I've had my eye on :)

If anyone finds good prices on front or rear lips or side skirts PLEASE post or PM me :D thanks all!!

in order to get the ss rear lip onto the ls/lt bumper you have to physically cut the slits into your bumper making sure they are correctly spaced out acording to the lip so the lip will fit into the bumper.

Really? If that's the case then perfect. I can have my body guy do it probably for cheap. I was worried there would be more to it than that. Thanks for the info :D

Cool! Well I do want to get the ss bodykit bought and painted first so I might not be ready to buy next month but we'll see where I'm at. Let me know!

OKAY guys UPDATE:

I bought the SS side skirts today. $160 shipped to my door, and they are same year and color as my ride (silver) YAY!!! I lucked out on that one.

Now for the bad news: went to visit the dealer today for front bumper/lip pricing. They have gone WAY up in price.
Price for SS front bumper is $452 plus tax!!!
Price for front LIP is $312 plus tax!!!!
WTF!!!

If anyone finds an ss front bumper or lip that is more affordable than this then PLEASE hit me up ASAP!!! The prices are still going up on top of it all...

Yeah I'm aware of getting it painted. Got a shop already for that. Friend's brother-in-law's shop. I just don't want to pay $800 for front bumper and lip AND pay to get it painted. For $250 and $120 I'd be all over that!!! Shipping to Canada is killer though :( hope I find a solution...

That looks SIICK. yeah I'm not a member on CSS but if you ever find a for sale thread on any of those sites with front lip or bumper, if you could just send me the link, I'd greatly appreciate it. I don't have time to register or anything on more sites because I'm on iPhone and I rarely have time to browse eBay let alone sign up for more forums lol.
