ok, so I recently complained about my jumpy transmisson, which untill yesterday I thought was fixed. I was driving it around yesterday and the case of the hard shifts came back, YAY. So I had my mechanic with a lift check the fluid and it was a quart low(dealer changed axel seal that was bad and didnt put fluid that leaked out back in). So with fluid added, I drove it today and everything was hunky dorey untill the car got hot. Then the problem returned. Im now being turned to getting a new transmission controll module and changing the transmission fluid(maybe crap got in there?) Dont know at all, and extreemely pissed off. Car seems to lack somepower as well, but has been making this weird sound that sounds almost like a turbo spooling(its a LT 2.2) when I get around 4200-5000 rpm. No idea what that is either. Im seriously considering just selling this damn car and getting a WRX and be done with it. Anyone have any ideas what could be the problem/problems?

I had a manual back when...

but I drove the @#[email protected] outta that car and it took it like a champ, and I hear the auto's are even beefier. Must be a fluke, I'd just replace the trans
You wanna pay for it? haha. I baby it too, but i was a little pissed off and gave it the beans to get on the highway. It always made the noise, idling and whatnot, just really loud in the higher rpm

Im seriously considering just selling this damn car and getting a WRX and be done with it. Anyone have any ideas what could be the problem/problems?
I think you should sell it and get a WRX, then you will be problem free......

$600 a month for payment and insurence :(

I own my cobalt, paid cash, insurence is $96 for full coverage. I wanted to wait till I was out of school and have an acutal job. lol

It is probably a very small problem, like a frayed wire, corroded contacts or broken ground. Don't sell your car at the first little problem. Plus finding problems yourself is very gratifying.

I am. Im going to get a new TCM and wiring harness, which I found online to be the problem most of the time. I found one used from a junk yard. Im also going to change the tranny fluid, which couldnt hurt anything, just a failsafe.

Im just really aggervated from everything, one problem leads to another. lol

I had a trailblazer before I got my cobalt and right before we traded it in, it started having tranny problems. We never got it fixed and brought it to the dealership to trade in with it only being able to go 30 mph, but we had decided from talking to a mechanic that lives a couple houses down and the internet that it was a solenoid that had gone bad. It had about 110k on it, just food for thought I guess.

I assume you're driving an automatic? Not an expert on the subject, so I have nothing of importance to add, just that the torque converter is often overlooked, yet it holds a good deal of ATF. Maybe a solenoid is out of wack or it could be a pressure related issue. I used to have a hard shifting problem, especially 1st and 2nd, multiplied when cold. Just drained the fluid, flushed and topped it up with dextron VI. The old stuff was a dark brown colour and had metal shaving at the bottom. Now it's much better, not perfect but better. Cost me a whole $15 too.

I'm having my family mechanic look at it who works for a GMC dealer. Im done messing around lol. I'm driving my old cr-v around for now. He said hes going to test the tcm first, then check fluids and what not

lol nah I dont wanna pay for it, but it'll be cheaper than chasing some gremlins
