I've been looking through some posts and am wanting to paint my dash.

A few questions.
Do I have to remove the old paint? (Do I just paint right over it?)
If you have had painted your dash, did you regret it?
What colors do you think would look nice on silver?

(Random Question)
What color rims would you think would look really nice on the silver?
Going to be working soon to hopefully pay for all this.
Thanks guys.

When you say Dash you mean the trim right? All I did was pop them out, give them a sanding then used an adhesive promoter before I painted.

I've got a silver cobalt myself and my dash trim is purple. Doubt that's what you'd be going for but hey, it looks good lol.

As for rims, get whatever you like. I personally always liked black rims on light coloured cars. Makes them look meaner... I guess.

Anyways if you want more details, search in the forums, it's all there. =)

Silver's a neutral so pretty much anything will go. I'd say anything but brown.

As mentioned above, check out people's show off threads for ideas; that's a good place to get started.

I'm thinking of doing the same.. But the actual Dash, above the guage cluster by the windshield. If you find any information that helps you, let me know.

There are 7mm screws behind the removable trim, take that off and you should find how the dash comes out.

Not really, you will never get the texture back to stock so make sure this is what you want first. New dash is not cheap!

ohhhh :smile1: what do you think about painting the entire dash?

It would be better to paint the trim a color that compliments the black dash

Best thing about plastidip is if you get tired of it you can just peel it right off. I wonder if you could do both, though... The colors are really limited with the dip, I wonder if you could just paint over it and have the color you want with the freedom to change your mind whenever?
