Hi, I just bought my 2010 Chevy Cobalt, and so far I love it. I have a question.

When I pop my trunk from the remote, it lifts about one half inch and then I have to reach my hands under there and pull the trunk up. I noticed that there are lift supports on the trunk. I was wondering if they are supposed to raise the trunk when I pop it, or if they are just there to keep the trunk from slamming down?

Thanks!

I don't think they are meant to raise the trunk after you pop it. Much like the hood strut, they simply hold it up after you lift it. At least, that's how mine has always been. I bought my 'Balt when it was just a year old.

It's just there to pop it and hold it. Not to raise.. raising would be cool tho, and would keep people from using my wing as a handle
You could build a trunk that lifts all the way. You just need electrical solenoids that engage, you would have to get the right frequency of the key fob for trunk release button. Run a wire from the BCM pigtail to the solenoid and tada! Maybe a bit of money, but it would give others ideas :)

Why would you need all of that???? My girlfriend has a Jeep Liberty, and when she pops her rear window it actually lifts the window all of the way up.
