Hey guys,

I'm finally getting around to doing a turn signal mod that, once completed, I want put up here in the forums as a low-cost, high-yield project. My plan is to install red LED turn signal arrows behind the side view mirror glass for a high-end OEM blinker look. In addition, I plan to put small amber LED strips on the mirror caps for added safety (and coolness). Once I get this wrapped up I'll post it all, including pics and where I finally found the right materials.

However, I'm asking for help as I work through the most difficult portion, which is to locate the ideal electrical tapping points. So I started tonight, mapping out the lighting system from the BCM. I have the complete wiring schematics and all of the possible entry points for wiring this mod are listed below.

Option 1 (72 Pin gray connector):
BCM > Circuit 1> Contact 17 (Right Front Turn Sig Lamp Sply Volt) Dk Blu
BCM > Circuit 1> Contact 35 (Left Front Turn Sig Lamp Sply Volt) Lt Blu

Option 2 (41 Pin Red connector):
BCM > Circuit 2 > Contact A9 (Left Rear Stop/Turn Lamp Sply Volt) Yel
BCM > Circuit 2 > Contact A12 (Right Rear Stop/Turn Lamp Sply Volt) Dk Grn

Option 3 (72 Pin gray connector):
BCM > Circuit 4 > Contact 66 (Left Rear Turn Sig SW Sig) Yel/Blk
BCM > Circuit 4 > Contact 67 (Right Rear Turn Sig SW Sig) Dk Grn/Wht

Option 4:
I suppose just tapping at the front signals behind the headlamps... be it a sloppy way of doing it.

Here's where I need input from the electrically inclined before I start haphazardly tapping wires. As you know, our tail lights and running lights are multifunction with dual intensity. The tail lights function as running lights, stop lamps, and signals. Our front signals also function as running lights.

So to my quandary: How to tap/add turn signals so that they won't assume the other functions. In other words, we only want these to flash with the blinkers, and not illuminate with running lights or stop lamps. It must be possible, as we can use our blinkers with all other lights off. I'm afraid I just don't have the expertise to say exactly why.

I gave option 2 a try tonight, as it's minimally invasive, and things worked perfectly! (except) that my test lights illuminated with the brake sensor. Fail.

So now, after this long post... Does anyone know how we can go about wiring? Help me get this done so we can get the mod out there!

Thanks,
SP AD1

Went with option 4 and yahtzee. I'll hopefully have the how-to up soon... Well, just as soon as my parts arrive. Thanks for the replies, guys!

Always appreciated.
