After being in the forum a while and hearing about the many ways people's local dealers have tried to cheat or screw them out of money here is a thread where people can actually tell their tales.

While deployed to Afghanistan, my wife took our 4 door into the dealer at 28,000 because the left rear door would not unlock. They said it was not a warranty issue because it was aesthetic. They got it unlocked after our bady shop guy couldnt, and my wife left it unlocked for 4 months til I got home and could take the panel off to find out what part was broken. They wanted $250.00 to fix it. After I got home it needed an oil change, and we took it to the local Wal mart and went to the restraunt next door to eat and forgot to tell the people to keep that door unlocked. We got back all doors were locked, I opened up all the doors and went to unlock that one and low and behold IT WAS FIXED by the Wal Mart lube tech and has been working fine for almost a year.

That dealer has continually given us and other people grief because we bought our cars in Nashville about an hour away because they wouldnt cut a good deal on the purchase.

brought my car in for work one day(all warranty work). They told me it would be done that night around 5 oclock. i didnt get my car back for 8 days. They only fixed 2 things i asked them to, they told me one other thing actually wasnt covered under warranty even though they said it was. Then they said they fixed my window, but they never did.

i took my car in cuz it had a broken tranny gasket and they told me warranty would cover it and that it would be ready by 5 30pm, when i went they told me its gonna be ready the next morning, i went in the nxt day and they told me 1 more day! so i was like wtf, so when i went it was finally ready and i guess they realized i was unhappy so they ended up changing my interior door handles for free cuz they were chipping...that was the only good thing out of all of this

Here is another James Corlew in Clarksville, Tn incident. Went in for a CEL they said the cat/downpipe needed replaced at 68,000 but it was not under warranty, even after showing them the owner's manual anbd warranty manual they still argued it was not covered, even though Chevy says the cat is warrantied til 80,000. So they fixed it for free but said my K&N intake was loose and charged me $100 to adjust and tighten the hardware. I took the service manager outside to show him the intake and the green torque stripe that I use on the helicopters that I work on in the Army had not been damaged, he got the deer in the headlight look and still tried to say his people worked on it, aftger threat to go to my post consumer affairs office and the BBB, he took the charge off.

Brought it into a dealer after my local mechanic had told me that my engine light was from a glitch in the tranny computer that was covered under warranty. Went to the dealership and they said it wasn't in fact warranty so they could fix it for $90. Payed them, but engine light was still on, so they took back and deduced my accelerator pedal was mis-aligned (??) and so they would need to order new parts, and it would cost $250. Then brought it back to our mechanic who brought it to a close friend of his who was another dealer. The dealer fixed the original problem our mechanic had diagnosed free of charge, with nothing said about the accelerator pedal, and since then, no engine light.

Another time was when my dad brought it in to get his radio replaced. Ended up having to stay there more days then they stated because the radio they had ordered wasn't the right one. My dad made some noise with the owner of the dealership, and as an "I'm sorry thing" they let him borrow a 2009 Tahoe Hybrid for 2 days whie his was still in the shop. Wasn't fun, but getting to ride in a luxury car like that kind of made up for it.

Day Chevrolet in Monroeville PA wants $46 plus tax for a front bowtie, no install.
You have got to be kidding me, those things couldn't have cost more that $10 at most to make.

One thing that I have realized is that when you live in a small town or a military town and you buy any car from an out of town dealer, the local dealer looks at where you bought it and then really starts to give you problems about everything because they lost the sale.
