Hi, been awhile. My wife's 2008 cobalt, apparently today while she was sitting parked, made a loud boom near the driver's door, & when rolling up the manual(crank) window, there was a smudge of an oily? debris inside the window above the crank. It was nearly a hundred degrees here in Texas today, but what in the world would have blown up in the door? Thanks as always.

Might be the capacitor blew for the speaker crossover. Was the debris like little pieces of oily paper and foil?

If you have the upgraded sound or aftermarket speakers like this polkaudio one. On the right is a coil but on the left it's a capacitor.

Most Cobalts more than 2 years old have aftermarket speakers because the OEM die quickly.

Active crossovers are usually seperate but passive are usually mounted right on the speaker connections sometimes better hidden than the polks.
