I have a 2006 cobalt lt, randomly it will lock my keys in the ignition and the only way to free them is to touch the ground wire on the battery. another thing is that once i turn the keys to shut the car off the engine will stay running for a few seconds and then shut off. any one else having these problems? if so how did you fix them?!

Loose connection on battery terminal will cause key to not be released from ignition. I had that problem before and my positive terminal was loose to the touch. Maybe your ground terminal is loose. But the engine not shutting off right away that must be a different problem. That might be ignition switch.

Sounds like you have a pretty large drain on the battery or charging system. Go get your battery and alternator tested and ask them to do a drain test as well. They do it at advance auto and even the danger zone.

Well some relay must be stuck on or something to kill a new battery over night. U should have pulled fuses last night until the humming stopped, now you would know what is hawling down your battery.

i had to pull the IP ignition fuse to stop the humming, thought the battery wouldnt die but it did. figured out that whoever wired the remote start before i bought the car did a half ass job. problem was solved when the remote start was taken out
