I miscalculated (forgot to change gear ratio - that was with a 1:1 ratio), in 6th, 100 mph is 2800 rpm.

For reference, though, here is the power/torque curves.

That said - at 100 mph, 6th gear (double overdrive) puts you right in peak torque.

No, redline is 5k, high for a diesel, but likely because it's only a 2.0L.

diesels of 15 years ago were lucky to see 3000rpm and redline was at around 2500. i was shocked when i saw where redline was on the cruze.

i find my cruze is really good power wise until about 140km/h and then 10km/h increments start taking much longer

Hell, even the large I4 (2.8L) LWN in the Colorado/Canyon revs higher than I thought it would. The tach only goes to 5k though.

yeah no youre right. i was looking at if you really got lugging the engine and needed the rpms your tq would fall off but no, because you wouldnt need the higher rpms to move it when your max tq is so far down in the range. nevermind me, trying to do to many things at once.

With me multitasking can be as simple as walking and breathing.

Well, that can be tricky - have to make sure you don't breathe in and accidentally swallow at the same time.

Torque is a nice thing to have, makes short shifting much less stressful.

I drove my mom's cousin's Fiat Bravo diesel in Italy. Thing pulled pretty well down low, but fell flat on it's face after about 3k. Still fun though. Those were my wild days.

0.69:1 with a 3.20 final..

I actually found it pulls real good past 80 or 85 mph...noticeably, actually. Was going to keep going, but I came up on slow traffic.

id have to try it again, i know its nothing to 140km/h but it sucked past that or so i remember when i did it when the car was like 4 months old. ill have to try it again. at 140km/h i should be outside of my peak tq limit anyway
