The gear in which you buy a manual! I would probably just leave it in drive. If you rev too high in low it just going to up shift on its own.

typically , an advanced driver and a N/A cobalt don't go together either.

just leave it in drive, if youre going from a roll then bump it down to I to get your rpm's up. Since we don't have v8's (sex on wheels), we have to make power over 3k

If ya wanna race someone, start in "L" and manual shift. Know your RPM for peak torque and shift accordingly. When you go into your next gear, that RPM should match peak torque. That's my 5 cents worth.
