So, I was giving my timing chain cover a good wash, and it seems a piece fell off! I presume it goes in the timing chain cover, the hole where the allen driven cover screw thing is, but I'm not sure. If so, which direction does it face?

Is that the inner part of the timing chain tensioner?
You didn't take the oil pressure relief valve apart did you?
I got it, I checked the layout at a scrap yard. I'm unsure if I took apart the oil pressure relief valve, that may be it, but I put whatever I did back together. My head gasket repair failed so it doesnt matter too much, I'm just gonna get a new engine because I'm not sure it wasnt a damaged piston wall, there was a little chip and a small scratch that didnt catch my nail, the timing doesnt seem off when reved but it sounds ugly on idle. I presume cuz of the gasket. Maybe not, though, the head gasket repair nearly worked, but it still puffs a little coolant if stressed.
