I noticed that my map lights weren't as bright as they used to be so I checked them out. Found that only a few LEDs on the bulbs were working and when I took one of the bulbs out, it pretty much fell out in pieces.

Is this common? I thought they were supposed to last for awhile.

Like any thing else electronic, it can fail even the highend stuff. Stuff happens. Usually LEDs don't get hot enough for that to happen.

I use the other type, the ones that shoot light in only the direction needed.

For the LEDs that have focused lighting, is there any specific brand or are they referred to in a certain way?

Thanks for the info! It's starting to get dark earlier so I was just coming in here to ask what I should get to replace what I've been using in my map lights. Looking for bright and hopefully something that will last longer than a year.

I'm not seeing anything at oznium.com. Just the round style like I was using.
