I have a 2007 Cobalt LT I was under the understanding that abs and traction control was standard on that model starting that year but yet I don't have any indications of ABS or traction control light I have not hit the brakes hard enough to discern whether it's ABS I know I don't have traction control ..can anybody clarify that for me??

It wasn't standard on the LT - my 2007 LT has neither (you'll either have both, or neither). If there is no button to turn TC on or off, you don't have those systems.

There’s a few ways to find out without looking under the hood for the abs unit. If you pull up on the parking brake, the abs and tcs lights come on. Also if you put the shifter down to the last spot they’ll light up if you have abs.
