So i had no issues on my cobalt 5 speed and the other day coming home all of a sudden it wouldnt shift into gears except 1st an 5th and it was very hard to get it to go. Got it home and could smell burning, once i turned it off it shifted just fine but wont start now just makes a whirring sound upfront like something is spinning. Any ideas what could be the issue?

I have the automatic lt 2009 its doing the same thing. This just rnadomly happened to me couple days ago.
