Even though I am not on here a whole lot and I am not that enthusiastic, this sucked pretty bad and I thought I would share. It isn't horribly mangled in any way, but it was a hard hit. I am a little sore but my car(I named her Dawn) did a pretty good job of keeping me totally safe. So here is what happened.

Some prick in a new escalade decided he didn't want to merge onto the freeway so he slammed on his brakes, cut across the median-esque area and caused some other cars to slam on their brakes, I did the same but I slid into the ass end of a ford ranger. I would have just moved lanes, but it was 1 lane getting ready to merge with 2 others onto the freeway so I had nowhere else to go. I wasn't ticketed, the guy I hit went to jail for no license and some warrants. So I essentially got a criminal off the streets(I win). Nobody got the plates of the escalade and he took off(not a surprise). The estimate for repairs is a whopping $4,500. The upside to this is my rental car. It is a 2011 Toyota Camry. A very nice car compared to my Cobalt, and it is surprisingly much faster. But I can't wait to get my car back. I am happy to not have to say Rip Dawn.

As you can tell I did my best to get the inevitable hit as far away as the driverside as possible.

that sucks dude, and yeah the Camry has 186hp and the V6 one has 268hp so they are both quicker than our 2.2L's lol....I used to always buy Toyotas, thats why I know all their hps lol

Doesnt look too bad body damage wise, all somewhat simple repairs. However it is whats underneath that matters. Hopefully it will be a quick fix. The camry is a good car, the Corolla is very uncomfortable and not as much room as the Balt, I got one once as a rental.

They have to replace some stuff beneath the body work. I won't know until I get myself some kind of invoice or something for what needs replaced, but I know bodywise what is messed up doesn't cost over 4 grand.

^^^ are you blind? that right front frame structure is toast. It is all pushed into the engine bay along with the radiator support beam up front, no telling how bad it is touching the engine till you see in person.

aftermarket headlights are cheaper than one stock replacement, along with aftermarket hoods and fenders...

Blind? No. :noworry:

Optimistic? Yes.

From here, it looks like he more went under the ranger rather than into it. I can see a little extra damage behind the headlight, but nothing that couldn't be fixed.

like I said, by looking at the fender wall, it has to be pulled or else u'll never get the new parts to fit, especially aftermarket ones...u ain't gonna pull that out with a toilet plunger
