My girlfriend owns an 05 Chevy Cobalt. I was out of town and she tried to jump start the car herself because she had left a light on. She hooked up the cables wrong + to + and - to -. She said it started smoking and she realized what was wrong and then switched them.

The car itself works fine but the stock CD/Radio is dead. Won't turn on or anything. Any thoughts on the cheapest way to fix this? Am I better off just going after market and getting a new system that way? Is it possible it is the wiring now the actual radio/cd player?

I'm a rookie here...help me out!

Thanks, and Merry Christmas!

Did you check the radio fuse?

I guess the radio protected the fuse.

What kind of radio? Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't there more than one fuse for the radio? Also, some radios have fuses in them at the plug for the wiring harness that comes with the radio itself, and it should be a mini fuse... have you checked that?
