Purchase vBulletin, the most powerful forum software available.

Im just throwing this out there to see what the community of YC.com thinks about this. Keep in mind there is cost involved and possibly site down time (Very minimal) to make the upgrade. Keep in mind it is HIGHLY unlikely that this will be done, but i just wanted to see what you guys think about.

I've seen this version in use on a few sites and i like it. :)

i say sure, but can u make it so if pple are not satisfyed they can change their profile back to how it is now?
Not without getting rid of 4.0 all together. But with 4.0 there are few more options as to what the user can do and use.

Heres a few Highlights...

Pop-up auto-refreshing buddylist with ICQ-style alerts when Friends come online
User Style picker
User Reputation
User Reputation Management
Google AdSense Integration
Internal search engine for advanced searching of site content
Anti-spam protection (CAPTCHA, bad words, flood protection, IP ban, posting by registered members only...) No
Plus alot more...

I usually encourage updating software because it makes the forums more secure and also makes for easier updates down the road! (If you fall too far behind, it sucks getting caught up) New Features are always a plus!

With that said...I say, HELL YEAH!

It's also cheaper to maintain and renew.

I say don't. It already runs well and a complete overhaul would be a waste imo
