Why Did Gm Use Different Tail Light Designs?

On the Sedan and Coupe and what is the significance of the round taillights on the coupe? You see that design in older impalas, and even the Corvette.

my guess is the coupe looks more sporty so they tryed to make the taillights look more sporty. By making them look like the vette lights?

And definitely an association with Camaro, Corvette, etc...

lol the main reason i first looked at the cobalt and then chose the coupe over the sedan was because of the coupe's taillights.

yeah, im sedan, im glad they are different. I WOULD NOT want the round eye tails on my 4dr...... I just dont like tha bug eye look of em, corvettes are a different story, they look good on a vette, just not on my 4dr
